DAY CARE SURGERIES
The concept of day care surgery is not new. The ancient doctor's have used this method, which have been re-presented as a modern day innovation, and now it has come to stay.
What is Day Care or Ambulatory Surgery ?
Cancer is an abnormal and uncontrolled growth of cells. Sometimes cells grow into tumors. Tumors may be benign (non-cancerous) or malignant (cancerous). Breast cancer is a cancer that develops within the breast tissue. Every woman carries with her the risk of breast cancer. Breast cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer deaths in women.
What about anesthesia ?
Most of the surgeries and other procedures are done under local anesthesia and mild sedation, therefore, its effect wears out within a few hours, and you are able to function normally.

Procedure like Endoscopies, Excision biopsies, Lipoma, Cysts, Breast Lumps, Hernias, Hydrocele, Varicocele, Vasectomy, Auroplasty, Piles, Fissure-in-ano, Fistula-in-ano, Pilonidal sinus etc. are easily and comfortable done as a day procedure.
What are the advantage of this type of surgery ?
The patient avoids hospitalization and its associated problems, like hassle of the admission and discharge procedures, avoids hospital acquired infection and can recover in the familiar and comfortable surroundings of his home and family, without inconveniencing anyone. Also, it significantly cuts down the cost of the whole treatment.
As the procedure is done under local anesthesia, it does away with the complications of general or spinal anesthesia, and it can safely be done in cases where general anesthesia is contraindicated.
What are disadvantages ?
In some cases, there can be pain, requiring injectable painkillers or bleeding, which may require medical attention. But, these are rare, and the post-operation instructions given to you at the time of discharge, will help you to prevent and take care of the situation.
